Would there be new types of planets added? In-game there are at least 20 different types of planets that can be found: -ocean -barren -dwarf -several different types of terestrial -the citadel -several types of gas -omega -collector base -eta.
I was just wondering if the team would be adding new planets. I don't know if this has already been discussed or if you have already added planets. Also if I miss any planets types could you list them in the reply

Yes there will be a multitude of new planets. I want to make sure that players can play on a huge variety of planets just like in the RPG game.
Not all planets will be habitable, and if some are inhabited they will not likely support a large population or perhaps no population at all. Standard sins planets will be in there.
Volcanic Gas Giant Ice Terran Desert Asteroid Dead Asteroid Space Junk Asteroid Belt Dwarf Planet Magnetic Cloud Plasma Storm Wormhole (Mass Relay)
New planet types will hopefully consist of the following. Perhaps if we can, some (which I will note) will have multiple skins to create variation.
Toxic terrestrial (multiple skins; when I say toxic, I mean multiple types of toxic possibilities such as; fumes, strong chemical compoistion that is unhealthy i.e high levels of carbon dioxide etc.) Chemical terrestrial (multiple skins; when I say chemical, I mean, multiple times of chemical compositions for the atmosphere and/or surface such as; krypton and xenon etc.) Oceanic terrestial (as you said) Greater variation of current Gas Giants (as you said) Inhospitable terrestrial Hazardous terrestrial Rocky terrestrial Hot terrestrial (Greater variation than "volcanic". Example is Venus Cold terrestrial (Greater variation than "Ice". Example is Pluto compared to Hoth)
These are what I can think off at the moment. I'm sure I'll come up with several more as I continue to play through Mass Effect series again. There may be the possibility for each planet to have four levels of size as well: Dwarf, Standard, Giant, Super Giant.
I hope this helped you and all this is specualtion. I'm not sure what we have planned but it will most likely be enjoyable non-the-less.

That sounds awesome! It would be cool if maybe you guys could put something in there (this could be difficult and it's just an idea that popped into my head) to mod the menu esq thing that pops up when you hover over a planet (the thing that shows planet type, health, population, etc. ) to show like in Mass Effect the gravity, the atmospheric pressure, size, etc. Or maybe a description. Something that would make it look like the descriptions look in a mass effect game.
Hopefully that rant was understandable!

It made sense to me.
While there are planets that have an inhospitable atomsphere, there can still be a station set up in orbit. While these planets would still be able to be colonized, they would have low population and be used more for passive abilities and resources. Some of these passive abilities can be better mining (better resource in area) or upgrades to ships in the local area (gives near-by friendly ships a boost or better regen rate for "energy"). The citadel should have a very helpful ability that way it is a very strategic planet and it would be worth holding for the entire game (worthy of having a fleet defend it at all times).

Sounds like good ideas, both of them. I will convey these to the Lord and Master.

It would be quite clunky during a game to see the unnecessary details of each and every planet. Maybe instead , they should put a Codex into the game that you can look at (just like the Mass Effect Codex, except with new Dawn of the Reaper Information) for planet details, history etc.

I think the engine is pretty limited in how much you can do with the UI, I wouldn't expect a Codex or detailed planet info in-game to be possible.
Although who really knows, Zombie's custom main menu blew me away, I had no idea anything like that was possible with Sins.

I'm thinking something similar to Civilopedia or like the Mass Effect codex but it's not necessary that it be accessible during gameplay.

Yes, an accompanying PDF document would be a nice treat. I'm sure the Codices from the games would make for an easy reference, and a bit of original writing for non-canon game elements.

Are you guys going to make the collector base a planet in-game?

While playing through mass effect 3 on insanity, I came across the fact that all systems only have one mass relay. Will this be taken into account for the maps of that are made.

The citadel should act as a mass relay that the reaper could use from their "captial". It would need to be researched or else the person playing as the reapers would capture the citadel during the first few minutes of the game. Would it be possible with the game engine because it would be lore friendly (and it would be cool to try out what happens if Shepard didn't stop saren from activating the citadel)

Eh, I'm not sure about that but I could see it having an extra ten slots for more defenses. Also, I do approve of the faster ship build rate.
