I love both series, but even with it's continuity errors, I prefer Halo which is rooted far more firmly in science than Mass Effect where we get the black magic of Mass Effect fields.
And when you compare weaponry, ME wins on the ground, but Halo trumps in space.

Actually Mass Effect is a lot closer to real science than Halo. The "black magic" we see at the end is connected to the dark energy theory. Mass Effect fields are also a theory but if the right element was found it could technically be a possibility.
In Halo slipspace portals are also a possibility but a lot of the scale and size that Halo opetates with is a bit rediculous also a few other things here and there.

I don't think we should get into which one is more scientifically possible because that is just silly. They are both Science FICTION.
